Vibank deputy mayor resigns; code of ethics, snow removal, asset management, census also discussed

Vibank residents may be voting in a by-election next month, after village council accepted deputy mayor Roger Ecarnot’s resignation Feb. 22.

Nominations for the vacant council position will be accepted until March 23. Should multiple candidates put their names forward, a by-election will be held April 27.

Council designated Cathy Mastel as the village’s new deputy mayor.
Discussion around Ecarnot’s resignation took place during an in-camera (closed to the public) session, along with that around an agenda item titled “resident concerns.” A motion was passed following the latter closed discussion permitting the village to work with the provincial ombudsman’s office “and legal counsel” as required.
