Business community questions RM of Edenwold’s industrial development plans

Jennifer Taylor, a senior planner with Regina firm Associated Engineering addressed the White City Emerald Park Business Association at its monthly meeting Nov. 10 regarding the Emerald Park Sector Plan.

The sector plan was an initiative brought forward by the RM of Edenwold in July 2021. The project is intended to map out the land use, integration, infrastructure, utilities and transportation needed in the lesser and undeveloped areas south of Highway 1 and east of Range Road 2185. Associated Engineering was hired by the RM to prepare the sector plan and offer guidance on the development of the area.

A public survey on the matter closed Oct. 24, and last week the business association was asked for further feedback on the requirements, concerns and improvements that they saw to be necessary for this plan.

McMorris talks COVID, autonomy, rural health care

Minister of Government Relations and Indian Head-Milestone MLA Don McMorris knows exactly what he would do if he could snap his fingers and make it so as Saskatchewan’s latest legislative session gets underway.

“I would get another 15 per cent of our province’s population vaccinated,” he said in a recent interview with The Forum. “Never since I have been in politics has there been so many promising economic announcements than there have been in the last six months and yet all of it has been overshadowed by COVID. It is time to be done with this pandemic and start to focus again on the prosperity in this province.”

Sedley council talks property assessments, rink and gym hall

            Sedley village council discussed plans at its Nov. 18 meeting to have the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) conduct a community property assessment in 2022.
            The last time the community had an official assessment was in 1989 and chief administrative officer Samantha Gillies said an updated report is long overdue.
